China to grant zero-tariff treatment to 16 least-developed countries

China will grant zero-tariff treatment on 98 percent of taxable products from 16 least-developed countries, according to a statement released Monday by the State Council’s Tariff Committee.

Effective September 1, the policy will share market opportunities with these countries, foster common development, and promote building a community with a common future for mankind, the statement said.

The treatment will gradually extend to all least developed countries having diplomatic relations with China.
