Government China reacted strongly to the report of the chairman’s planned visit House of Representatives (HOR) or DPR United States of America (AS) Nancy Pelosi ke Taiwan. The Chinese government has warned it will take “firm action” if Pelosi does visit Taiwan.
As reported ReutersTuesday (19/7/2022), leading media Financial Times citing sources familiar with the planned visit, reported that Pelosi, who is also a US Democratic Party politician, plans to visit Taiwan in August.
Financial Times reported that Pelosi and her delegation will also visit Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore, then spend time in Hawaii at the headquarters of US Indo-Pacific Command.

There has been no official response from Pelosi’s office or the US State Department regarding the report on the planned visit. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had “not received any relevant information” about any visits.
Pelosi was originally scheduled to visit Taiwan in April, but the visit was postponed after she tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). At the time, China said Pelosi’s visit would have a bad impact on relations between Beijing and Washington DC.
Speaking in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian gave a strong response to reports of Pelosi’s planned visit to Taiwan.
Zhao stressed that any visit by Pelosi would “severely damage China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”. To this day, China continues to regard Taiwan, which has its own democratic government, as part of its territory and under its sovereignty.
“If the US side stubbornly adheres to this journey, China will certainly take firm and strong steps to firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Zhao said in a statement.
“The United States must take full responsibility for all the consequences caused by this,” he warned.
