Jakarta –
China summoned United States Ambassador (US Ambassador) in Beijing, Nicholas Burns, after ‘terrible’ visit US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. Burns was reprimanded by the Chinese government for Pelosi’s visit.
Deputy Foreign Minister Xie Feng voiced a strong protest at Pelosi’s visit to the self-governing island which China considers part of its territory.
“This move is very dire and the consequences are very serious,” Xie was quoted as saying by China’s state news agency Xinhua. “China will not remain silent”.

Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan sent tensions soaring between the world’s two largest economies. The US considers Beijing a major provocation.
Xie said the US would pay the price for its own mistakes and urged Washington to immediately address its mistakes, taking practical steps to undo the ill effects caused by Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
For information, Pelosi landed in Taiwan on Tuesday (2/8) night amid a series of angry warnings from China. Meanwhile the Biden government is understood to oppose Pelosi’s dismissal in Taiwan. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Peloci had the right to go wherever he wanted.
China’s military said it was on high alert and would launch a series of targeted military actions in response to the visit. It announced plans for a series of military exercises in the waters surrounding the island to begin today.
Taiwan’s defense ministry said more than 21 Chinese military aircraft had flown into the island’s air defense identification zone, a wider area of its territorial airspace that overlaps with parts of China’s own air defense zone.
“Taiwan is China’s Taiwan, and Taiwan will eventually return to the motherland. The Chinese people are not afraid of ghosts, pressure, and evil,” Xie told Burns, according to Xinhua.
