The Chinese authorities reinforced medical controls, with temperature checks and tests and inspections at airports, given the threat of a re-outbreak of the coronavirus with the arrival of winter.
The Asian giant, where the virus was first detected a year ago, has managed to contain the spread of the disease and its economy is functioning normally.
Beijing remains firm in its controls at a time when COVID-19 cases are soaring in many parts of the world and a new variant of the virus has been detected that, according to experts, is more contagious.
Strict controls have been imposed in different neighborhoods in the capital Beijing, where suspected cases of the virus were detected.
Workers dressed in special suits disinfect the passenger boarding and disembarking areas at airports and ports, as part of a rapid mobilization to contain possible winter outbreaks.
In the Shunyi district of Beijing, lines of people can be seen outside testing centers, while officials control health data stored in QR codes of visitors in city hospitals.
China reported only 21 new cases on Monday, most from abroad.
The Asian giant has registered 4,634 deaths and some 87,000 infections since the appearance of the disease in December 2019.
