BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) – China’s Ministry of Commerce announced on Thursday that it would lift unjustified restrictions on the sale of used cars and expedite the inter-provincial registration process of the trade. The ministry is cooperating with the relevant departments to accelerate the further development of the used car market by lifting restrictions on national car sales, facilitating trade, promoting the exchange of information and introducing new ways of buying and selling used cars, said Gao Feng, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce , at a press briefing.
China’s used car market holds great potential, Gao said, adding that more than 6.9 million used cars were traded in the first five months of this year, up 22.9 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
The demand for used cars will be one of the driving forces behind the auto market in China, Gao said.
According to Gao, the ministry will work with relevant departments to improve policy guidelines for the used car trade and to further develop the potential of used car consumption.
