A maglev – also known as a levitating train – is a type of train that moves without touching the track due to electromagnetic force. The train, manufactured in the coastal city of Qingdao, will be the world’s fastest ground vehicle. China plans to introduce it in the next few years.

China has been using the super-fast railway technology for years, but on a fairly limited scale. The Maglev short line, connecting one of the airports with the city center, operates in Shanghai. It reaches a speed of over 400 km per hour. So far, however, China has not introduced this technology in communication between cities or provinces where high speeds would be really desirable.

At a speed of 600 km per hour the train journey from Beijing to Shanghai would take only 2.5 hours.while currently this time is 3 hours. by plane and 5.5 hours by high-speed rail. The Maglev is also equipped with an efficient braking system that cuts the braking distance from 16 to 10 km compared to the Maglev train operating in Shanghai.
China has ambitious plans for the development of high-speed rail and is planning a real revolution in communication for the coming years. The Japanese are also competing with the Chinese in fast transport technology. Germany and other countries also want to build their network. However, the obstacles to the rapid introduction of modern solutions in railways are the high costs and the need to adapt the infrastructure, which is not possible everywhere.
