China is predicted to become an exporting country mobil largest in the world for the first time. China will defeat Japan, which previously held the throne.

Nikkei Asia explained that China exported 4.41 million cars during January-November 2023 according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). This figure is up 58 percent from the same period in 2022.

Meanwhile, Japan in January-November 2023 recorded an increase of 15 percent from the previous period to 3.99 million cars.

During the 12 months of 2023, Japan is estimated to only export 4.3 million cars, so this figure is believed to be below China. However, China’s determination as export king in 2023 is still waiting for the latest data in December 2023.

Japan is the largest car exporter in the world, the last time this country did not get that title was in 2016 when it was overtaken by Germany.

China’s car exports exploded this year, supported by the Russian market, which was abandoned by Japanese and European manufacturers because of the war with Ukraine.

During January-October 2023 China exported 730 thousand cars to Russia, this is a seven-fold increase from the previous year. Chery Automobile and Great Wall Motors are the two largest exporters of medium and large SUVs.

Apart from Russia, China’s largest exports were to Mexico, which increased 71 percent to 330 thousand units. Chery, SAIC Motor and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile (JAC) are growing rapidly in the country.

CAAM data also shows that exports of electrified vehicles jumped 77 percent to 1.43 million units during the 10 months of 2023. The aim of these electrified vehicle exports is Europe and Southeast Asia.
