China saw rapid growth in renewable energy generation capacity between January and August

BEIJING, September 25, 2022 (Xinhua) China has seen rapid growth in installed renewable electricity generation capacity during the first eight months of the year as the country has pursued green development.

In the period from last January to August, installed capacity for electricity generation from wind energy increased by 16.6% year-over-year to approximately 340 million kilowatts, while installed capacity for generating electricity from solar energy it reached 350 million kilowatts, an increase of 27.2 percent, according to the National Energy authority.

The data showed that at the end of August, China’s total installed electricity generation capacity was about 2.47 billion kilowatts, up 8 percent from last year.

China has announced its two goals of reaching peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

China leads the world in terms of installed capacity of wind, photovoltaic, hydroelectric and biomass energy as the country moves forward on the path of green development.
