China reviews restrictions on exports of rare earth materials to the US

Let’s continue conflict with the US, another rare earth card
Production disruptions such as F-35 fighters during execution

The British Financial Times (FT) reported on the 16th that China is considering restricting exports of rare earth elements, a key raw material for advanced weapons such as F-35 fighters, to the United States. In 2010, when a territorial dispute over Japan and the Senkaku Islands (Chinese name Diaoyudao), China, which pressured Japan by restricting exports of rare earths, continued to fiddle with the rare earth export restriction card once more as the conflict continued after the inauguration of the US administration Joe Biden. There is an analysis raised. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has already drafted regulations on the production and export of 17 rare earths last month. At the time, a government official asked the industry, “I would like to know how difficult it will be for the United States to produce fighters if the export of rare earths is banned, and how long it will take for the United States to acquire alternative rare earths and produce its own. The F-35 fighters produced by US defense company Lockheed Martin require 417 kg of rare earth per unit.

Rare earth called’Rice of the 4th Industrial Revolution’ means 17 elements such as lanthanum (La), cerium (Ce), and scandium (Sc). It is a key raw material for high-tech products such as semiconductors, smartphones, electric vehicles, lasers, and military weapons, and 80% of the world’s production is in China. Due to enormous environmental pollution during the production process, advanced countries such as the United States are relying on imports rather than their own production.
