China’s Foreign Ministry said Feb. 20 that the United States “does not have the right to lecture” on arms sales after the US warned against providing lethal military support to Russia. This is reported CNN.
“It is the American, and not the Chinese, side that supplies the battlefield [в Украине] a steady stream of weapons,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters.
He noted that China will not allow the US to dictate terms or put pressure on Sino-Russian relations.
Out Wenbin added that China continues to “call for peace and advance negotiations” to resolve the war in Ukraine and that it is determined to “play a constructive role in helping to de-escalate and cool the situation.”
According to CNN, the U.S. has recently started noticing “worrisome” trends in Chinese support for the Russian military and there are signs that Beijing wants to “go to the line” of providing lethal military assistance to Russia without getting caught. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned China against providing military assistance to Russia, which is waging war against Ukraine.
