A new respiratory virus is spreading in China, affecting children en masse. Hospitals are overcrowded with parents and children waiting for medical help, reports say “Sky News”.

Children’s hospitals in Beijing and Liaoning, 500 miles apart, are “overwhelmed with sick children.”
“Many, many have been hospitalized,” a Chinese resident told FTV News. “They don’t have a cough or any symptoms. They only have a high temperature (fever) and many of them develop nodules in their lungs.”

These cases of “undiagnosed pneumonia” were found in northern China.
In response, the World Health Organization (WHO) has sent an official request to China for more information as well as laboratory results on the reported outbreaks among children.
The WHO advised Chinese communities to take preventive measures, including getting vaccinated, wearing masks, keeping a distance from sick people, staying home when sick, and washing hands regularly.
WHO also requested more information on trends in the spread of known pathogens and the burden on health care systems.
At the same time, the Chinese authorities explain the increase in morbidity due to the cold weather conditions, as well as the lifting of restrictions on the circulation of Covid-19 and known pathogens.
