KONTAN.CO.ID – SHANGHAI. The conditions of the corona virus epidemic in China are slowly getting worse again. On Wednesday (28/10), China recorded 47 new cases in one day. This record is the worst in the last 2 months.

This number also increased from the previous day which only recorded 42 new cases.

Reuters preach. of all the new cases, 23 of them were local infections in Xinjiang. This case involved an asymptomatic patient who was noted after the mass infection in Kashgar some time ago. The rest came from abroad.

Most cases in the previous day occurred on 9 August. At that time, there were 49 new cases recorded in one day.

Despite being declared the worst infection record in 2 months, this number is still much smaller than what happened at the peak of the epidemic last February.

Until now, the total number of Covid-19 cases in China has reached 85,915, while the number of deaths still stands at 4,634.

Mass infection in Kashgar

The surge in cases of corona virus infection in China in recent weeks is thought to have originated in Kashgar City, Xinjiang. On Saturday (24/10), Xinjiang launched an emergency response after identifying asymptomatic cases of the coronavirus.

Reuters reported, the first case was detected in a girl aged 17 years. In a routine check-up program, this patient finally tested positive and was immediately treated at the local hospital.

All close contacts of the Kashgar patient have been isolated for medical observation and local authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations.

On Tuesday (27/10), China again reported 5 new cases from Kashgar. This new wave of infections in Kashgar sparked mass testing across the city.

As of Tuesday, at least 4.7 million citizens have tested for the corona, of which 183 people have tested positive.
