China registers 528 new cases of covid, the highest number since 2020

Beijing, March 10 (EFE) .- The National Health Commission announced today the detection of 528 new positives for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus this Wednesday in mainland China, a figure that marks the highest number of new daily cases since the first half of 2020.

Among the new cases, 402 were registered by local contagion in Jilin (northeast, 165), Shandong (east, 66), Gansu (north, 66), Shaanxi (center, 21), Tianjin (northeast, 19), Guangzhou (southeast , 17), Jiangsu (east, 13), Hebei (north, 10), Beijing (4), Liaoning (northeast, 4), Shanghai (east, 4), Inner Mongolia (north, 3), Zhejiang (east, 3 ), Yunnan (south, 3), Shanxi (center, 2), and Henan (center, 2).

The remaining 126 positives were found among travelers from abroad in Shanghai (42), Guangzhou (southeast, 33), Beijing (14), Guangxi (south, 12), Henan (center, 7), Sichuan (center, 4), Gansu (north, 4), Heilongjiang (northeast, 3), Zhejiang (east, 3), Yunnan (south, 2), Jiangsu (east, 1), and Fujian (southeast, 1).

Health authorities also reported today the detection of 586 asymptomatic cases, 435 by local contagion, although Beijing does not count them as confirmed cases unless they show symptoms.

The total of this type of infections under observation is 3,238, of which 1,328 come from other territories.

The National Health Commission also detailed that, until last local midnight (4:00 p.m. GMT on Wednesday), 126 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming covid.

The total number of active infections in mainland China amounts to 2,451, two of whom are in serious condition.

According to the institution’s accounts, since the start of the pandemic, 112,385 people have been infected in the country, among whom 103,139 have managed to heal and 4,636 have died.

To date, medical follow-up has been carried out on 1,729,080 close contacts with those infected, of which 112,423 are still under observation. EFE
