Main Director of Perum Bulog Budi Waseso said China was ready to export to Indonesia. The amount reaches 1 million tons
“Yesterday the President and the President of China spoke and China is ready to help Indonesia when Indonesia needs it. China is ready to help up to 1 million tons,” said the man who is familiarly called Buwas after checking the loading and unloading of imported rice at Tanjung Priok Port, Thursday (12/ 10/2023).
However, Buwas emphasized that there has been no contract or realization of rice imports from China. According to him, there are still import contracts from other countries that are being finalized by Bulog.
“Now I’m exploring which country, whether it’s Vietnam. It can be Thailand, it can be Pakistan, if not, I can contact China. I haven’t invited China yet, but in principle China is ready. This is for our peace of mind,” said Buwas.
According to Buwas, China’s readiness to export rice to Indonesia is good news for the country. The reason is that currently a number of countries have stopped exporting rice for the sake of domestic interests in their respective countries.
“We must often be grateful that there are countries that still provide and are willing to export rice for the benefit of Indonesia. India is still closing its exports, so we can’t get it from India,” concluded Buwas.
