China presents AI video generator to compete with Sora

Beijing. This Saturday, China presented Vidu, an equivalent to the American artificial intelligence tool Sora, capable of creating realistic videos by simply entering text.

Sora, which debuted in the United States in February, is owned by OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT and the DALL-E imager.

The launch of this new tool is a breakthrough in the field of AI and was widely followed in China.

Shengshu, a company founded last year in Beijing, announced this Saturday the creation of Vidu, which according to the company can create realistic 16-second high-definition videos from text.

“Since the launch of Sora, Vidu is the first such feature-rich video model in the world,” said Shengshu.

The Afp has not been able to independently verify these claims.

The company published a video with very realistic images created using artificial intelligence.

According to its website, Shengshu’s team includes engineers from Chinese digital giants ByteDance (owner of TikTok), Tencent, Baidu and Alibaba, as well as the prestigious Tsinghua University.
