On its mission this time, China attempted to collect samples from the far side of the moon for the first time with Chang’e 6.
Previously, Chang’e 5 was launched on November 23, 2020 from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center on Hainan Island, China to take samples of soil and rocks on the moon. Chang’e 5 landed on the lunar surface on December 1, 2020 and returned to Earth on December 16 of the same year.

As for Chang’e 6, China plans to take samples in a different part, namely on the far side of the earth.
The mission is expected to launch in May 2024. Wu Yanhua, chief designer of China’s Deep Space Exploration Major Project said at a conference held on April 25 that after Chang’e 6, China plans to launch Chang’e 7 in 2026 for resource exploration. at the south pole of the Moon.
Followed by Chang’e 8 in 2029 which aims to build a basic model of the International lunar research station.
