Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai, January 2 (Reporter Zhou Rui) The reporter was informed on the 1st that Tesla, a world-renowned auto company, has officially started sales of Model Y made in China and is expected to begin delivery in January. The Made in China Model Y project was launched on January 7, 2020, and it entered the sales and delivery phase in just one year.
Recently, Tesla has made frequent moves in China. On December 31, 2020, Tesla’s world’s largest super charging station, the Shanghai Jing’an International Center super charging station with 72 charging piles, was officially launched. As of the end of 2020, Tesla has built more than 600 super charging stations in China.
Tesla is also investing in the construction of a super charging pile factory in Shanghai that integrates R&D and production. It plans to officially put into production in the first quarter of 2021. The initial plan is to produce 10,000 super charging piles per year. In addition, Tesla plans to set up a product design center in China to conduct local product design and research and development.
The Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory is China’s first wholly foreign-owned vehicle manufacturing project and Tesla’s first overseas factory.
