Director of the Arms Control Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Fu Cong declared during the conference of the countries-participants of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
“China is committed to the path of peaceful development and the nuclear strategy of self-defense and undertakes never to be the first to use nuclear weapons under any circumstances“, said a Chinese official.
Earlier, the Global Times wrote that the Chinese armed forces are planning to launch military missiles during the exercises that began near Taiwan.
Recall that on August 2, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi arrives in Taiwandespite Chinese threats to retaliate for the visit.
The response to Pelosi’s visit came quickly. Chinese Army, announcing the start of the exercises on the evening of August 2, deviated from the preliminary official statement about the exercises between August 4 and 7.
Besides, 20 Chinese Air Force aircraft entered Taiwan’s air defense zone again.
