China investigates deadly crash with Tesla ‘runaway’.

The incident occurred earlier this month in Guangdong province. According to China’s Jimu News, the 55-year-old driver tested the car when the Tesla took off by itself at high speed.

The camera images show that the driver can only drive the car, but cannot control the electric car:

The car eventually collided with several vehicles. Two people were killed, including a child. Three people were injured.

In China, Tesla’s second largest sales market, (false) claims that the car’s brake system is faulty have been made more often. Whether this incident was caused by human error or actually a technical glitch, an investigation must prove.

The American automaker has announced that it wants to help the Chinese police with their investigations.
