China Increases Taxes on Goods Sent to Russia and Belarus: Impact on Economic Relations

Chinese authorities have significantly increased the tax on the supply of their goods to the Russian Federation and Belarus.

There is a sharp cooling in relations between China and the Russian Federation. Beijing has significantly increased tariffs on exports of goods to Russia and Belarus, which are already in a bad economic situation due to sanctions.

About tax increases told Belarusian portal Infotrans Media Belarus.

According to the source, China has significantly increased freight rates (the so-called payment for freight transportation, which is provided for in the contract) for direct rail communication to the Russian Federation and Belarus. Prices have increased by $500-800 on average depending on the departure station.

Prices for shipping to the Russian Federation by sea have also increased. If before they varied between $800-1000, now they have increased by about a third – to $1300-1500.

It is not known what is causing such a large increase in prices at the moment, but the effect is known. Chinese goods received by the Russian Federation and Belarus increase the price even more. This will be a blow to the wallets of ordinary Russians and Belarusians.

Before that, Russia launched the construction of a railway to China, which will increase the country’s economic dependence.

We also wrote that Russia’s Z-blogger was upset about China’s decision to join Western sanctions: “Our friend is stabbing us in the back.”
