jpnn.com, BEIJING – Typhoon In-fa lashed China’s business hub Shanghai and surrounding coastal areas on Sunday.

All flights were cancelled, subway trains were slowed or stopped, businesses were closed due to this natural phenomenon.

The typhoon hit Putuo District in Zhousan, a port city on the east coast of Zhejiang Province, at 12:30 (11:30 GMT), state broadcaster CCTV, citing the China Meteorological Agency, reported.

The storm hit as central China was still hit by floods that killed at least 58 people, cut power and displaced one million people.

“We will make every effort to ensure the safety of residents and their property, and do whatever it takes to minimize the impact of the disaster, and strive to achieve the target of zero casualties and minimal economic loss,” Yuan Jiajun, secretary of the Communist Party of Zhejiang Province, was quoted as saying by state media. .

The meteorological agency previously said the typhoon was moving at a speed of 15 km per hour.

In-fa wind speeds can reach 38 meters per second, they said. That is equivalent to 137 km per hour.

Typhoon In-fa moved north along the Zhejiang coast from noon, passing Shanghai and reaching northeastern Jiangsu Province in the evening.
