BEIJING, KOMPAS.com – On Monday (4/1/2021), China announced that they were opening telescope giant Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope ( FAST) for scientist from abroad.
Researchers from abroad can submit proposals for using FAST starting April 1.
The announcement was made through the National Astronomical Observatories (NAO) as quoted from Mashable.

FAST, which is also known as the “Sky Eye” or “Sky Eye”, became the world’s only giant telescope after the collapse of the Arecibo telescope in Puerto Rico in late 2020.
Telescope The giant is located in Guizhou Province, China. Due to its enormous size, it allows the telescope to intercept radio signals from outer space which many other telescopes may have missed.
That includes the possibility of intercepting transmissions from extraterrestrial civilizations or alien.

FAST officially commenced operations on January 11, 2020. Since then, FAST’s capabilities have been upgraded and have functioned properly.
The telescope is also claimed to be able to observe eksoplanet who may support life and make important discoveries regarding the transmission of radio waves in outer space.
Before it was inaugurated, during its experimental observations in 2019, FAST focused on a panet outside the solar system that was three times the size of Earth and was named GJ273b.

By observing how waves from an exoplanet star bounce off of it, Chinese scientists found that theoretically, FAST could detect an alien civilization if the aliens built a 70 gigawatt antenna and sent a signal to Earth.
This claim is corroborated by the findings of a senior professor who works at the site.
The professor described his findings in a scientific journal and wrote that the telescope was in a good position to search for the existence of aliens.

Reporting from Xinhua, FAST is accepting proposals from scientists abroad starting April 1. But it only gave permission for scientists to use the telescope on August 1.
Jiang Peng, FAST’s chief engineer with NAOC, said in the first year the telescope opens, about 10 percent of the observation time will be allocated to overseas scientists.
