/ world today news/ From November 1, China takes over the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for this month. On the same day, the country’s permanent representative to the world organization, Zhang Jun, chaired the Council’s internal consultations, where its work program for November was adopted.
Zhang Jun said that dealing with the situation between Palestine and Israel is the most important task of the Security Council this month. First and foremost, a ceasefire must be promoted and civilian casualties, greater humanitarian disaster and escalation of the conflict must be prevented. As the rotating chairman, together with the international community, China will encourage the Security Council to take responsible and significant collective steps towards achieving these goals, Zhang Jun added.
The presidency of the UN Security Council rotates between the 15 members of the council for a period of 1 month. China’s last term as rotating chairman was in August last year.
