It must be admitted that China is one of the countries with a unique policy when it comes to video games. On the one hand, it includes giant-sized game and technology companies that easily annex some or all of the game companies outside of China. But on the other hand, the communist government clearly expresses disgust with the media and sees it as a source of trouble among the youth. The latter situation has many negative consequences, from limiting the game time to the difficulty of leaving the game there. Fortunately, the situation has softened.

For the first time since last August 2021, China has finally reissued the release permits of domestic and international games. It has been recorded that there are about 45 international games that have received permission from Pokemon Unite, Don’t Starve, for the competitive multiplayer game – Valorant. The good news? There are also around 84 home games, aka games invented by local developers, that have received the same license, including Tencent and NetEase as well. This is obviously good news for game industry players who are interested in it.

Valorant is one of the international games that has finally passed the release permit from the Chinese government.

Previously, China itself had boasted that it considered the problem of young people’s addiction to video games to be solved, especially through the tough policies it had implemented. Will this milder condition last? Let’s wait.
