/ world today news/ On June 20, the UN held an open meeting where the issue of the Malvinas Islands was discussed. In his speech, Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative Geng Shuang clarified China’s position on the matter.
He stated that China firmly supports Argentina’s just claims for sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands. Beijing has always advocated the settlement of territorial disputes between countries through peaceful negotiations in accordance with the goals and principles of the UN Charter. He called on Britain as an interested party in the matter not to take measures that could worsen the situation and at the same time actively respond to Argentina’s demands, restore dialogue and negotiations and find a peaceful, fair and long-term solution in accordance with UN resolutions .
