The number of internet users in China exceeded 1.30 million in December 2021, an increase of almost 43 million from the end of 2020, according to a report published on Friday.
The internet penetration rate reached 73 percent, according to a report on the development of the sector in the country released by the China Internet Network Information Center.
Among Internet users, about 27.5 percent live in rural areas and 11.5 percent are 60 years old or older, the document said.
The report also highlights the growing office and healthcare services online, with 469 million and 298 million users, respectively. CC/JMP
