China is making it easier for American tourists to travel to the Asian country. This makes applying for a visa easier and requires fewer documents. It is a new attempt by China to get tourism going again.
According to the Chinese Embassy in Washington, tourist visa applicants in the United States no longer need to submit airline tickets, hotel reservations or an invitation letter.
China previously made it possible for tourists from the Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy, among others, to visit the country without a visa.
China’s strict control policy had paralyzed tourism in the country during the corona period. This hit the world’s second largest economy hard.
The number of international flights to China has increased again since the government lifted the corona restrictions a year ago. Yet it is still only 60 percent of the level of 2019, the year before corona.
