BEIJING (ANTARA) – China is developing a next-generation spacecraft that will feature seating for up to seven people, the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) announced on Thursday (8/6).
More roomy than the current three-seater spacecraft, the new generation spacecraft will be able to carry more cargo supplies and a larger crew, which will contribute to expanding the scale of manned spaceflight as well as opening up new fields, such as space tourism, said Zhou Jianping, chief designer of China’s manned space program, in an interview.
A new launch vehicle is also being developed.
According to Zhou, the new manned rocket is designed to have greater take-off thrust, reusable components and a larger payload area, making it more cost-effective than previous generations.
