China Dare To Shoot Down The Plane Of The US House Of Representatives Speaker When Visiting Taiwan?

TAIPEI – China had threatened to respond militarily if the Speaker of the DPR United States of America (USA) Nancy Pelosi visits Taiwan . The threat made Washington officials fear that Beijing would shoot down Pelosi’s plane.

Chinese military threat first reported Financial Times on last Sunday, closing several sources familiar with the matter.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian on Tuesday said Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan, if it actually happened, would have a major impact on US-China relations.

Zhao neither confirmed nor denied the Chinese military threat as reported Financial Times.

“If the US insists on taking the wrong path, China will take firm and strong steps to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity. All subsequent consequences will be borne by the US side,” Zhao said.

Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan has not been confirmed. However, the Pentagon has indicated it is preparing to protect it, ordering carrier strike groups into contested waters around Taiwan.

Should the visit take place, Pelosi would be the first US House Speaker to visit since Newt Gingrich in 1997.

Taiwan has ruled itself democratically after the end of China’s civil war in the past. However, Beijing still considers the island part of China and is ready to use military force to subdue it.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has issued a stern warning to US President Joe Biden while talking about Taiwan over the phone.
