Now, according to the Financial Times, which cites four sources familiar with the estimates of American intelligence, it became known about another GLA test, carried out on July 27. The first, according to informed people, literally stunned the Pentagon and US intelligence, because China was able to demonstrate completely new weapons capabilities that the United States does not possess.
According to the newspaper, GLA was developed by specialists from the Chinese Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics, which is part of the state-owned Chinese Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation CASC (China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation). Sources of the publication emphasized that the launch of the GLA was carried out using a rocket of the Changzheng family, created by a subsidiary of CASC.
On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden said he was concerned about the hypersonic missiles China is testing, but did not comment further. In turn, White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to comment directly on the reports of China’s testing of a hypersonic missile, but noted that, in general, the issue of new Chinese weapons was raised by Washington through diplomatic channels.
At the same time, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on October 18 at a regular briefing that in August of this year China was testing not a new type of weapons, but a spacecraft… According to the diplomat, this technology is of particular importance for world science, as it can significantly reduce the cost of space exploration for mankind. The tests, he said, were organized to validate the spacecraft’s reuse technology.
