Liu Guozhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, visited the Capital Medical University Xuanwu Hospital and the Donghuashi Community Health Service Center in Dongcheng District, Beijing, to visit and extend greetings to frontline medical workers on the sixth China Physician’s Day, with the theme “Shouldering the Healthy Mission, Creating New Achievements for the Era”.
During his visit, Liu Guozhong had in-depth exchanges with frontline medical workers to understand the situation of medical services, clinical specialty construction, traditional Chinese medicine services, and family doctor contract services. He emphasized that China Physician’s Day is a special honor and care given by the Party and the people to medical workers. He called for a deep understanding and implementation of the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on health work, insisting on putting the people and their lives first, adhering to the people’s health as the center, inheriting and promoting the spirit of the great anti-epidemic struggle, and always remembering the initial mission of being a doctor to better safeguard the lives and health of the people.
Liu Guozhong emphasized that the majority of medical workers are the main force in promoting the construction of a healthy China. For a long time, medical workers have served the people’s health with benevolence and sincerity, striving for excellence. Especially during the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, they did not shy away from difficulties and made outstanding contributions to the decisive victory in epidemic prevention and control. He called on medical workers to adhere to their professional beliefs, strive for excellence, and continuously improve their medical service capabilities and levels to provide the people with higher quality and more efficient services. Local governments and departments should care for and cherish medical workers, publicize advanced models and deeds, improve salary and treatment systems, promote the formation of a good social atmosphere of respecting doctors and valuing healthcare, and work together to promote the sustained and healthy development of the health industry.
