BEIJING, Feb.4 (Xinhua) – Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Wednesday that the international community needs to create a good external environment for Myanmar in order to resolve the disputes appropriately.
Mr. Wang made the remarks during a daily press conference in response to a question about the situation in Myanmar.
He said the United Nations Security Council had held domestic consultations on the situation in Myanmar on Tuesday and that China had constructively participated in the relevant discussions.
“The international community must create a good external environment for Myanmar in order to resolve disputes appropriately,” Wang noted. “All actions taken by the Security Council must be conducive to Myanmar’s political and social stability, peaceful reconciliation and avoid escalating tensions and further complicating the situation.”
“As a friendly neighbor of Myanmar, China hopes to see all parties in Myanmar properly deal with their differences within the framework of the constitution and the law and safeguard political and social stability,” he added.
