“China is deeply concerned about the current escalation of tension and violence between Palestine and Israel. We call on the relevant parties to remain calm, exercise restraint and immediately cease hostilities to protect civilians and avoid further deterioration of the situation,” the statement said.
China adds that the relapse into conflict demonstrates that the protracted stagnation of the peace process cannot continue.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the fundamental way out of the conflict is to implement the two-state solution and create an independent State of Palestine.
It also says the international community must act more urgently, increase its contribution to resolving the Palestinian issue, promote the early resumption of peace negotiations between Palestine and Israel and find a path to achieving lasting peace.
It is noted that China will continue to cooperate with the international community for these purposes.
Hamas attack on Israel
On October 7, militants from the Hamas terrorist group entered Israel from the Gaza Strip. At the beginning of the invasion they managed to capture a number of settlements. By evening, the Israeli Defense Forces had regained control of most of the territory and launched retaliatory strikes on military installations and Hamas headquarters.
Note that Israel declared a “state of war” and the start of the counter-terrorism operation “Iron Swords”.
