Xinhua News Agency, Jakarta, July 13 (Reporter Yu Qianliang Wang Aona) On July 13 local time, Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office Wang Yi attended the China-ASEAN (10+1) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Jakarta. and ASEAN Secretary-General attended the meeting.
Wang Yi said that China and ASEAN have actively implemented the purpose and principles of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, expanded mutually beneficial cooperation in an all-round way, and successfully embarked on a correct path of long-term good-neighborly friendship and common development and prosperity. The two sides work together to promote the building of a community of shared future, to build the “Belt and Road”, to promote regional economic integration, and to consolidate the foundation of peace and stability. China will be committed to high-quality development and provide new opportunities for other countries with Chinese-style modernization. China is willing to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with ASEAN to jointly promote the modernization process in Asia. In accordance with the concept of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness put forward by President Xi Jinping, we will jointly promote the continuous development of China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership and make new contributions to the peace and prosperity of the region.
All parties thanked China for supporting ASEAN’s centrality and community building, and appreciated China’s initiative to sign the Protocol to the Treaty on the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone. It is expected that the comprehensive strategic partnership between ASEAN and China will continue to reach new levels and achieve new results.
The meeting adopted a joint statement on the 20th anniversary of China’s accession to the “Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia” and a guideline document on accelerating the conclusion of the “Code of Conduct in the South China Sea”.
During the meeting, Wang Yi successively met with the foreign ministers of Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam, Russia and Australia.
