China: announcement of a vast program of “weather modification”
Beijing – China has just announced a massive “weather modification” program. In short: make it rain on demand, in order to fight against drought, to avoid hail or to increase agricultural yields.
The technique is not new: called “cloud seeding”, it consists of sprinkling the clouds with chemical compounds that accelerate precipitation. From a technical point of view, this is not new: the first experiences date from the 1950s.
Concretely, we will sprinkle the clouds, often by a specially equipped plane, with silver iodide, which will cause condensation of the water particles, which become too heavy and fall from the sky in the form of rain.
