For their part, local authorities sealed and sterilized the infected area, in addition to safely sacrificing and eliminating a total of 17,828 chickens to contain the spread of H5N1, which causes serious respiratory diseases in birds and is contagious to humans.

So far no human victims have been reported for this new outbreak.

The province of Hunan limits the north with the province of Hubei, whose capital, Wuhan, last December originated the coronavirus 2019-nCoV, which already 304 people have claimed their lives in China, while more than 14,300 are infected. The new virus has also spread in Europe, USA. and several other countries, but he has not left any mortal victims there.

What is H5N1 bird flu?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO),455 people died between 2003 and 2020 from H5N1 bird flu, which was first spread to humans in Hong Kong (China) in the late 1990s.

Almost all cases of H5N1 infection in people have been associated with close contact with infected live or dead birds. The WHO notes that the virus does not infect humans easily, and its spread from person to person seems to be unusual.

However, when people become infected, H5N1 can cause serious diseases and their mortality rate is about 60%.
