/ world today news/ Today, China and the US issued a joint statement on strengthening cooperation in dealing with climate change. It comes after Chinese and US climate envoys Xie Zhenghua and John Kerry held talks from July 16 to 19 in Beijing and November 4 to 7 in California.
The statement said China and the US “recognize that climate change is having an increasing impact on various countries.” The two countries will strive for effective implementation of the Paris Agreement and the related Glasgow Climate Pact and Sharm el-Sheikh Action Plan.
“China and the US understand that both their own measures and their joint actions will play an important role in realizing various goals set out in the Paris Agreement and promoting multilateralism.” The two countries will cooperate and, together with all other countries that have signed the Paris Agreement, will work to address the most important challenges for the sake of the life and health of humanity and future generations,” the statement added.
