After the meeting, Zhang Jun and Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, the United Arab Emirates representative to the United Nations, told reporters that they were seriously concerned about Israel’s continued attacks on civilian facilities such as hospitals, refugee camps, schools and UN agencies in the Gaza Strip. “Faced with a catastrophic situation, the Security Council must act urgently and adopt meaningful and enforceable resolutions.”
“We call for an urgent humanitarian ceasefire. We call on all parties to take measures to end hostilities and effectively protect civilians. All parties to the conflict should be required to guarantee the supply of basic goods and services to civilians in Gaza,” they added.
