/ world today news/ China and India have agreed to hold the 21st round of commander-level talks at the earliest opportunity to promote the resolution of their border dispute. The agreement was reached during the 28th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on Border Issues, which was attended by Hong Liang, Director-General of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and the Secretary of the Department of East Asia in the Ministry of External Affairs of India Gurangalal Das.
The two sides highlighted the positive progress made in the China-India boundary clarification negotiations and held an in-depth and constructive discussion on current issues. They were united in the view that it is necessary to maintain the momentum of the diplomatic and military talks, as well as to improve the negotiation and consultation mechanisms, to respect the agreements reached so far and to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas.
The meeting was attended by representatives of government agencies of both countries on foreign affairs, national defense and immigration issues.
