The government in China is in favor of a target of around 5 percent growth in the gross domestic product in 2023.
This emerges from a report published on the occasion of the annual meeting of the Norwegian People’s Congress. The meeting begins on the night of Sunday Norwegian time.
China’s economy grew 3 percent in 2022, which was significantly lower than the target of growth of 5.5 percent and represented the slowest growth rate in almost half a century.
The People’s Congress is formally China’s highest state organ and legislative assembly. It consists of around 3,000 representatives who are elected for five years at a time.
