Chinese authorities have accused the United States on Wednesday of “deliberately undermining peace and stability” after the passage of the destroyer ‘USS Sampson’ through the Taiwan Strait.
The words of the Chinese Government have come after a destroyer of the US Navy carried out, as explained by the Army of the North American country, a routine operation in the area.
“The passage of the destroyer through the Taiwan Strait shows the commitment of the United States to a free and open Indo-Pacific region,” says the text, which indicates that the Army carries out maneuvers “where International Law allows it.”
Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense, for its part, has stated that the ship sailed north of the strait and has described the situation as “normal”. The United States has no formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, but supplies the island with weapons and regularly sends ships to the strait.
