Recycling is one of the strategic lines currently promoted by the municipality of Chillán Viejo, which will also allow firefighters from the commune’s Sixth Company to be helped by signing an agreement that will allow the collection of all recycling of paper, cardboard and plastics be delivered to this noble institution.
“We have signed an agreement with recycling company La Unión, which is located in the Ñuble region, which will allow us to contribute to the environment, with our plastic, cardboard and each kilo that arrives of these materials. , it will be money that will be raised for our Sixth Fire Company of Chillán Viejo, so what is the invitation: is that we recycle as much as we can, because in addition to helping the environment, not disposing of these materials in the landfill, but “Let them go to the companies that recycle and reuse these elements and waste, but we are also going to be helping our firefighters, who this summer are going to require it, because what high temperatures bring with them is more fires,” explained the mayor of Chillán Viejo, Jorge del Pozo
It should be noted that during 2022, 3,297 kilos of paper and cardboard were collected, and so far this year, 4,150 kilos of this material have already been recycled. Meanwhile, in plastic it is estimated that approximately 340 kilos are recycled monthly.
“Any help to the fire department and our company is of great value. Everything that reaches us will obviously be used to improve our operational and administrative functioning. Recycling is an improvement for our environment, for the community and for having a cleaner city and the fact of recycling will have a direct benefit to our Sixth Company to be able to have a little more resources and help purchase materials and attack emergencies with better materials,” stressed Gustavo Sandoval, captain of the Sixth Company of Chillán Viejo.
Currently, the Chilanvejano municipality has 32 green points for receiving plastic and 18 containers for depositing cardboard, covering the urban and rural area.
“Today there is an agreement that was signed, where we are going to provide support to the municipality, whether in infrastructure, marketing and the reception of all the materials that the municipality can receive. What the municipality is doing is great because it helps an institution that also collaborates with emergencies and we also maintain a better planet and a better environmental disposition,” stressed Eduardo Migryk, owner of the marketing company La Unión.
