This week a Chilean program went viral that did a “comical” sketch in which they represented BTS. However, in this they made some racist and xenophobic references and comments that caused thousands of people around the world to demand respect from the K-Pop group. Now, the television network issued an apology.
It is not a secret that when it was announced that Covid-19 could have originated in a province of China, in the West xenophobic and racist comments against people from an Asian country have increased and, despite its great fame and international recognition, the group consisting of Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, V, RM, Jungkoo and Jin, not from these unfortunate comments.
The supposedly comical segment that caused the fire on social networks was one in which some actors pretend to be members of BTS and make fun of the way they talk and make jokes in which they relate the group to Covid-19 and the dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-un.
Among some of their jokes, they named the members of the South Korean band as Kim Jon- One, two, three, etc.

After the scandal, where the entire ARMY came out to ask for respect for the K-Pop singers, the television network, Mega, apologized for what was broadcast on the program “Mi Barrio”.
“Humor helps people deal with the difficult times of the pandemic that we are going through. Mega humor has clearly established limits in its programmatic orientations that are public knowledge. […] We want to express our absolute empathy with those who may have felt affected by the section “El Late de Raquel” and we apologize to them, “they declared through a statement.
“It was never our intention to offend, insult or hurt any community,” they added.
