In a new chapter of “Los Tenores Puertas Adentro”, Aldo Schiappacasse spoke with the former president of Colo Colo, Peter Dragicevic, to analyze the current situation of Chilean soccer and also of the institutional moment that the Cacique is experiencing.
The former leader of the albos, gave his opinion regarding the upcoming elections to be held in the ANFP: “Today I am not very clear what is intended, because on the one hand I see two lists that are competing for the post but curiously I have not heard from them, no plan of what they intend to do, there are two people who, per power group, are installed there, but none of them, in front of public opinion, has sat down to present us with a work plan ”.
In 1986 he became president of los albos and has always been very critical of the current organizations that lead the clubs: “My judgment against corporations is lapidary, from the beginning I always said that this was an activity that did not allow for the creation of corporations because there was no possibility behind it to profit and I think that time has proved me right, we have been 12-14 years and this whole period has been an absolute disaster, they have lost money like crazy, they have finished extinguishing the capital that was in the clubs, basically with the work of the minor divisions ”.
“In some way this is synthesized, as I say, the Telethon has a symbol child, Chilean soccer has a symbol child of corporations and it is called Sergio Jadue, so without going any further, I think it has been one of the biggest shame football has had in its history and it is a product of this system of public limited companies that has not managed to make the activity work, “added Dragicevic.
In the conversation with Aldo, the former leader confessed an approach he had with Marcelo Bielsa to reach the Albo box: “In 1994 or 1995, we went to look for Marcelo Bielsa to arrive at Colo Colo, he was in charge of the minor divisions of the Atlas in Mexico, in a tremendously significant development for that club and we wanted to bring it to Colo Colo because we believed in that project and we wanted to revolutionize Chilean soccer again and we could not because the option to remove it from the Atlas, meant that Colo Colo had to disburse 2 million dollars , which was what the club was asking for as compensation and the truth was that it was not possible ”.
Finally he gave his vision regarding the outlook for Chilean soccer: “I think we are experiencing a stage of the freezing of Chilean football, I think I see no way out of the activity and each time it will go from bad to worse, in my opinion Chilean soccer should enter a stage of semi-professionalism, I do not think that Chilean soccer in the conditions it has with the structures it has, in the phase it has and with the economic conditions that it has to be to be a real professional football ”.
