According to an article in the newspaper El Mercurio, CMPC, a Chilean company that has been involved in business activities in the United States for approximately 35 years, recently achieved a major milestone in expanding its industrial operations by acquiring Powell Valley.
Powell Valley, a company specializing in remanufactured wood products, operates two mills in Kentucky.
The acquisition agreement was signed by CMPC President Luis Felipe Gazitúa and CEO Francisco Ruiz-Tagle. Gazitúa the latter highlighting the importance of this step in the history of CMPC, saying that although their products have been sold for many years in the United States, this acquisition allows them to establish production capacities in the country in s relying on the expertise of Powell Valley.
Ruiz-Tagle expressed optimism about growth opportunities in the United States, particularly in the strategic wood building products sector. He noted that the United States has a long history of using wood in construction, including for tall structures, and that CMPC can learn from their experience.
