Argentina Form & Balance Check
In Argentina, as elsewhere, eyes will be on Lionel Messi. At the age of 33, the Albiceleste superstar is likely to play one of his last Copa America and slowly but surely the big hit has to succeed. Twice he had to admit defeat against the upcoming opponent from Chile in the final and so Messi still has an open bill. Overall, “La Pulga” can count on significantly more support at this tournament than in recent years.

Chile form & balance check
The Chileans are the team at the Copa America that has won the most titles in recent years. The two editions in 2015 & 2016 were won by the Golden Generation of Chile. Even if players like Vidal, Bravo & Co. are getting a little old, the Chileans have to be reckoned with. Claudio Bravo is still in goal and Arturo Vidal is actually pulling the strings in midfield. However, the Inter Milan player is sick with the corona virus and it doesn’t look like he will be able to play against Argentina.
Offensive too harmless?
The showpiece of the Chileans is of course the midfield. If all players are fit, then coach Martin Lasarte is spoiled for choice. Against Argentina he will let the two strong duels Pulgar and Aranguiz play again. What has always been the pride of the Chileans in recent years is now a bit of a problem child. What is meant here, of course, is the attack. Alexis Sanchez has not had the same class as he did when he won the 2015 and 2016 titles for years. Currently, Vargas is the only player who scores reasonably reliably.
In a first game at a Copa America, things rarely get really hot. The coaches want the players to acclimate first, so we believe that only a few goals will decide here. Since Chile has its problems in attack anyway, we don’t expect goals on either side.

Compared to the game against the Chileans a few days ago, Argentina will not swap very often in the World Cup qualifiers. Armani is back in goal and in front of that there is central defense from Otamendi and Martinez Quarta. The midfield is prominently made up of de Paul, Lo Celso, Paredes and Gonzales. In the attack, Messi and Martinez should provide the goals. Chile, on the other hand, is building on their usual 4-3-3 system. Aranguiz will probably have to sit on the bench. Alexis Sanchez should make the difference on the offensive.
