Santiago. A firefighter was arrested this Friday in Chile, accused of being answerable for the fireplace that triggered 137 deaths in early February within the metropolis of Viña del Mar, reported the director of the Investigative Police (PDI), Eduardo Cerna.
“At the moment (Friday) the arrest warrant was obtained for the writer of the fires that occurred within the month of February within the Valparaíso area,” the place town of Viña del Mar is positioned, Cerna stated in a press convention on the outcomes of the investigation of this incident.
On February 2, a number of fires broke out concurrently across the coastal metropolis of Viña del Mar, 110 km northwest of Santiago.
The incident triggered 137 deaths and 16,000 victims, in accordance with official figures.
“The sector work, the gathering of proof; the evaluation, the cross-referencing of knowledge was what made it potential to find, set up behavioral patterns and geographical publications of actions” of the detained firefighter, Cerna defined.
Native media reported that the firefighter is a 22-year-old younger man who had joined the drive – which is a volunteer in Chile – a 12 months and a half in the past.
“We’re fully devastated by what occurred, it’s a fully remoted occasion (…) we have now been serving Valparaíso for greater than 170 years and we can’t enable ourselves to have one of these state of affairs,” Vicente Maggiolo, commander of the Hearth Corps of the 13 firm from that area.
