MADRID, 6 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of Chile has registered 1,885 new infections of COVID-19 this Tuesday, its lowest number since December 27, when the health authorities of the Latin American country reported 1,711 cases.
With this figure, the total number of people infected in Chile since the pandemic began has risen to 1,574,465, while 33,288 people have died from the disease, 39 more than on Monday’s balance.
Likewise, 18,883 cases remain classified as active by the Chilean health authorities. Active cases have dropped below 20,000 for the first time in four months, according to the Bío Bío station. In total, 1,50,879 people have managed to recover from COVID-19 in Chile.
For their part, the Chilean intensive care units continue to be at the limit, with 92.5 percent occupancy and only 325 available. Of the total, 2,728 are occupied by people infected with COVID-19 and, of them, 83.5 percent require mechanical respiration.
Chile is one of the countries in the world that has the most advanced vaccination plan against COVID-19. To date, it has administered more than 23.3 million doses, with more than 10.9 million people using the complete regimen, representing 57.4 percent of the population of the Latin American country.
