Chile recovers Alexis Sánchez for a duel against Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) – Chile got the best news before facing Brazil in the Copa América quarterfinals on Friday.

Forward Alexis Sánchez traveled with the La Roja squad to Rio de Janeiro, apparently already recovered from the muscle injury in a calf that prevented him from playing the first round of the tournament.

The Inter Milan striker posted on his social media images of the last training session at the “Juan Pinto Durán” complex in Santiago de Chile on Wednesday. Then, he shared photos with the delegation on the way to the airport.

The absence of “Niño Maravilla”, a historic player for the Chilean team, had an impact on the production of goals during the group stage: there were three, two Eduardo Vargas and another Ben Brereton.

The last formal practice on Thursday will be key to defining whether Sánchez plays from the start against the host or waits on the bench to enter when Uruguayan coach Martín Lasarte decides.
