The Chilean government has just donated 20,000 vaccines against the Sinovac coronavirus to Ecuador, as reported by the Ecuadorian authorities this Saturday, March 6.
The Ecuadorian president, Lenin Moreno, thanked his Chilean counterpart for the donation, which will allow the vaccination process to continue: “Thank you Sebastian Piñera for sharing the ideal of fighting for the immunity of the region ”.
“Bilateral relations bear great fruit! The government of Chile delivered to Ecuador 20,000 SINOVAC vaccines for healthcare personnel. This is a show of solidarity between countries, ”Moreno said on his Twitter account.
Through a statement, the Ministry of Communication stressed that the donation to the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador It was agreed during the Extraordinary Summit of Presidents of the Forum for the Progress of South America (Prosur), which took place on February 25.
Rodolfo Farfán, Ecuadorian Minister of Health, highlighted Chile’s help and assured that “these doses that arrived today (Saturday, March 6) at Ecuador, allow us to move quickly in the immunization process in the country ”.
Likewise, the National Agency for Sanitary Regulation, Control and Surveillance (Arcsa) carried out the respective analysis of the biological, and issued the sanitary certification and authorization for the entry of the vaccine into the national territory.
“This shipment of vaccines is in addition to the 20 million doses already contracted by the national government to inoculate between 60% and 70% of the vaccinable population in 2021,” the Ecuadorian government expressed through a press release.
